Unit Maintenance

Excellent care of your unit is vital and important to keeping its Lavish look. It also determines how long it will last. Here’s how to maintain your Lavish unit.

Daily Maintenance

1. Comb and/or brush hair daily starting at the ends using a wide tooth comb and/or brush. When combing and brushing, hold hair in the middle. Gently and slowly brush out the tangles at the ends, working your way up to the top of your head. DO NOT comb and brush vigorously, be gentle. DO NOT use small tooth utensils.

2. For curly textures, use a leave-in conditioner & water mixture to spray curls.

3. When applying heat to any texture hair be sure to use a heat protectant spray.

4. For styles with body wave curls, flexi-rods and/or a combination of pin curls can help maintain curls and limit the need for daily use of excessive heat use.

5. If keeping wig on, when going to bed or laying down be sure to wear a satin bonnet. Laying on surfaces, especially cotton, will deplete hair of its moisture.

Washing and Conditioning

1. Always brush hair to remove any tangles before washing.

2. Gently wash hair in cool to warm water with sulphate-free shampoo such as Tresemme Moisture Rich Shampoo or OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo. Do not scrunch hair because this will cause tangling.

3. Rinse hair with cool to warm water.

4. Apply sulphate-free conditioner such as Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner or OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner. Rinse the conditioner out thoroughly under warm water.

5. Air drying hair is recommended (purchasing a foam or cork head can help the drying process). Gently pat hair with a dry towel. Put unit on wig head, find the part and comb/brush hair in direct of style and apply a leave-in conditioner and mousse. Then, let wig air dry. If you use a blow dryer, always use a medium heat setting.

6. Once hair is dry follow Daily Maintenance Instructions.

    

   Deep Conditioning

    

   1. Deep condition the hair regularly to maintain its optimal condition. If heating tools are used frequently, do this at least once a month. If the hair has been colored or chemically treated, increase this to at least twice a month. Deep conditioning with a silicon mix,such as Silicon Mix by Avanti, can bring any dull hair back to life and is highly recommended.

   2. The best way to maintain the health of your unit is to treat it like your own hair. Natural oils, deep treatment and cremes are some of the best ways to keep it from becoming dry or brittle.
